Vikoma is proud to announce receiving a Highly Commended award for Flood GuardianTM, Vikoma's flood barrier, in the Future Water Association's Best Innovation Category.
The Vikoma team picked up its award at the Future Water Association's annual lunch which was held at the Pump Rooms in Leamington Spa. Future Water Association is the UK's leading business support organisation for the water sector and runs this competition to introduce innovations to the UK Water Industry.
Karen Lucas, Vikoma's MD said, "our products have been protecting the environment for many years and we are excited to bring a new concept of flood barrier to market which will save users time and money compared to other options."
Paul Horton, CEO of Future Water Association, explained the importance of the awards. "People and innovation are the driving force behind today's water industry and these awards have been established to acknowledge both."

Vikoma has donated a boom to protect swans against slipping into a reservoir. The swans and their cygnets at Dunoon's Bishops Glen Reservoir in Scotland were belly flopping into the reservoir but can now swim safely thanks to Vikoma and a team of volunteers looking after them.
Managing Director, Karen Lucas said, "Vikoma will be 50 yeras old this year and this is the first time our boom has been used for stopping swans leaping in to a reservoir. Our products usually protect birds and the environment from oil spills and there have been some other novel uses in the past including, stopping jelly fish getting into water intakes, beaches and reports; preventing debris obstructing a kayak race course and stopping rubbish getting into canals but this is a first with swans".
